TheBetterCo LTD (trading as BetterBrain™️) ("BetterBrain," "we," "our," "us") is the data controller for any personal data you provide through the BetterBrain™️ mobile application and related services. You can contact us at [email protected].

We keep it minimal—just login details and anonymous usage data. No device fingerprints, IPs, health, or location data.

We collect only what we need to provide and improve the service. This includes:

  • Account information: Email address & password — used to create and secure your account - THAT'S IT
  • App events: Feature usage and click interactions — used to understand how the app is used and what to improve. Never linked to your account.

We do not collect sensitive data such as:

  • IP addresses
  • Device identifiers
  • Journal entries
  • HealthKit data
  • Precise location
  • Camera roll access

Your data is used strictly to deliver, maintain, or enhance the app—or to comply with the law.

We process your data for the following purposes:

  • To provide and secure the service — Legal basis: Contractual necessity
  • To improve features and user experience — Legal basis: Legitimate interests
  • To meet legal or regulatory obligations — Legal basis: Legal obligation

Your data isn't a product. Period.

We DO NOT:

  • Sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for marketing.
  • Store ANY of your journal entries EVER
  • Use your data to train third-party machine learning models.
  • Run ads on BetterBrain.

We aim wherever possible to deliver our service FULLY ON YOUR DEVICE - this means your entries NEVER leave.

This includes all texts, images, files & media.

At the same time we are committed to delivering cutting-edge AI technology while ensuring that your journal entries are never shared with proprietary AI providers.

Unlike many AI services that route your data through OpenAI, Google, or Microsoft, BetterBrain™️ enforces a strict open-source AI policy.

We only employ open-source models hosted by our trusted inference partners, each of which adheres to the same data-protection and retention commitments that we uphold. Our current AI inference provider:

  • Cerebras – Text inference and processing

Cerebras NEVER retain your entries or use them to train their models. You can review their privacy policies here:

Outside of AI inference, we rely on a small, vetted group of service providers to power core platform functionality:

  • Firebase – User authentication

All third-party processors are contractually prohibited from retaining your data beyond what is necessary to deliver their services to BetterBrain™️.

We DO NOT retain NOR have any access to your entries - EVER.

We securely retain your login data for as long as your BetterBrain™️ account remains active.

Once you delete the app, your entries are gone forever.

Once you delete your account, we permanently remove all associated login data from our systems.

One button. Gone for good.

To delete your account:

  • Open the app
  • Navigate to: Menu → Profile & Subscriptions → Delete my account

Once initiated, all entries & login data is permanently erased FOREVER

You're in control—download it, fix it, wipe it, or move it.

You have the right to:

  • Access your data
  • Correct inaccuracies
  • Export your data
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Request deletion

To exercise your rights, email [email protected]. If you're unsatisfied, you may also lodge a complaint with the UK ICO or your local supervisory authority.

Bank-grade locks on the vault—even we can't peek inside.

We implement strong security measures:

  • AES-256 encryption at rest
  • TLS 1.3 encryption in transit
  • Bcrypt 12 for password hashing
  • Zero staff access to encrypted user data
  • Nightly penetration testing

Data may cross borders, but the same strong protections travel with it.

Our servers may be located in the USA or EU. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and the UK addendum to ensure lawful transfers.

BetterBrain is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

If we change the rules, you'll get a heads-up and time to review.

We will update this policy in-app and adjust the "Last updated" date. For major changes, we will provide 30 days' advance notice.
